SRS DTC Troubleshooting: 62-1x
DTC 62-1x ("x" can be 0 thru 9 or A thru F):
Open in the Front Passenger's Seat Belt Buckle Switch
NOTE:
- Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, find out if the vehicle was in a collision. If so, verify that all the required components were replaced with new components, of the correct part number, and that they were properly installed Service and Repair.
- Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS Precautions and Procedures Service and Repair, General Troubleshooting Information Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes, and Battery Terminal Disconnection and Reconnection Procedures.
1. Clear the DTC memory.
2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), then wait for 10 seconds. Buckle and un-buckle the front passenger's seat belt several times.
3. Make sure the HDS communicates with the vehicle and the SRS unit. If it does not communicate, go to the DLC circuit troubleshooting:
- R18A1 engine Testing and Inspection
- K20Z3 engine Testing and Inspection
4. From the Main Menu on the HDS, select SRS, then PARAMETER INFORMATION. In the PARAMETER INFORMATION Menu, select FRONT RIGHT BUCKLE.
Is OPEN indicated?
YES -
- If OPEN is indicated only when the front passenger's seat belt is buckled, go to step 5.
- If OPEN is indicated only when the front passenger's seat belt is un-buckled, go to step 13.
- If OPEN is indicated only when the front passenger's seat belt is buckled and un-buckled, go to step 21.
NO -
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures. If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.�
5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
6. Disconnect the floor wire harness 3P connector (A) from the front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 3P connector.
7. Buckle the front passenger's seat belt.
8. Measure the resistance between front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 3P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 3. There should be less than 1.0 Ohms.
Is the resistances specified?
YES -
Go to step 9.
NO -
Faulty front passenger's seat belt buckle switch; replace the front passenger's seat belt buckle assembly, then clear the DTC.�
9. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.
10. Disconnect both front seat belt buckle tensioner 4P connectors and both front seat belt tensioner 4P connectors.
11. Disconnect SRS unit connector B (28P) from the SRS unit.
12. Measure the resistance between SRS unit connector B (28P) terminal No. 16 and front passenger's seat wire harness 3P connector terminal No. 3. There should be less than 1.0 Ohms.
Is the resistance as specified?
YES -
Faulty SRS unit or poor connection at SRS unit connector B (28P) and the SRS unit. Check the connection between the connector and the SRS unit. If the connection is OK, replace the SRS unit SRS Unit Replacement. If the DTC does not clear, replace the harness.�
NO -
Open in the floor wire harness; replace the floor wire harness, then clear the DTC.�
13. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
14. Disconnect the floor wire harness 3P connector (A) from the front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 3P connector.
15. Un-buckle the front passenger's seat belt.
16. Measure the resistance between front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 3P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2. There should be less than 1.0 Ohms.
Is the resistance as specified?
YES -
Go to step 17.
NO -
Faulty front passenger's seat belt buckle switch; replace the front passenger's seat belt buckle assembly, then clear the DTC.�
17. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.
18. Disconnect both front seat belt buckle tensioner 4P connectors and both front seat belt tensioner 4P connectors.
19. Disconnect SRS unit connector B (28P) from the SRS unit.
20. Measure the resistance between SRS unit connector B (28P) terminal No. 15 and floor wire harness 3P connector terminal No. 2. There should be less than 1.0 Ohms.
Is the resistance as specified?
YES -
Faulty SRS unit or poor connection at SRS unit connector B (28P) and the SRS unit. Check the connection between the connector and the SRS unit. If the connection is OK, replace the SRS unit SRS Unit Replacement. If the DTC does not clear, replace the harness.�
NO -
Open in the floor wire harness; replace the floor wire harness, then clear the DTC.�
21. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
22. Disconnect the floor wire harness 3P connector (A) from the front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 3P connector.
23. Un-buckle the front passenger's seat belt.
24. Measure the resistance between floor wire harness 3P connector terminal No. 1 and body ground. There should be less than 1.0 Ohms.
Is the resistance as specified?
YES -
Faulty front passenger's seat belt buckle switch; replace the front passenger's seat belt buckle assembly, then clear the DTC.�
NO -
Open in the floor wire harness or poor ground connection at G602:
- 4-door
- 2-door
If G602 is OK, replace the floor wire harness, then clear the DTC.�
