DTC Troubleshooting: B1178

DTC B1178:

F-CAN Communication Circuit Error

NOTE: If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A Troubleshooting - B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A.

1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), and then back to ON (II).

3. Make sure the HDS can communicate with the vehicle. If it does not communicate, go to F-CAN Circuit Troubleshooting.

4. Wait for at least 6 seconds.

5. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Are DTCs B1168, B1169, B1170, B1173, B1178, B1183, and B1187 indicated?

YES -

Go to the indicated DTCs troubleshooting, and check for continuity F-CAN lines.

NO -

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for open or short in the wire.�
