SRS DTC Troubleshooting: 61-2x (x can be 0 thru 9 or A thru F)
DTC 61-2x ("x" can be 0 thru 9 or A thru F):Short in the Driver's Seat Belt Buckle Switch
NOTE: Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS Precautions and Procedures, Service and Repair General Troubleshooting Information. Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes
1. Clear the DTC memory. Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes
2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), then buckle and un-buckle the driver's seat belt several times.
3. Read the DTC. Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes
Is DTC 61-2x indicated?
YES - Go to step 4.
NO - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures. Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.
4. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
5. Disconnect the floor wire harness 3P connector (A) from the driver's seat belt buckle switch 3P connector (B).
6. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
7. From the Main Menu on the HDS, select SRS menu, then PARAMETER INFORMATION menu, select FRONT LEFT BUCKLE.
Is OPEN indicated on the HDS?
YES - Faulty driver's seat belt buckle switch; replace the driver's seat belt buckle assembly, Front Seat Belt Replacement then clear the DTC.
NO - Go to step 8.
8. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
9. Measure the resistance between floor wire harness 3P connector terminal No. 1 and body ground. There should be less than 1.0 Ohms.
Is the resistance as specified?
YES - Short to ground in the floor wire harness; replace the floor wire harness, then clear the DTC.
NO - Go to step 10.
10. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.
11. Disconnect both seat belt buckle tensioner 4P connectors Service and Repair and both seat belt tensioner 4P connectors. Service and Repair
12. Disconnect SRS unit connector B (28P) from the SRS unit. Service and Repair
13. Measure the resistance between floor wire harness 3P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground. There should be less than 1.0 Ohms
Is the resistance as specified?
YES - Short to ground in the floor wire harness; replace the floor wire harness, then clear the DTC.
NO - Faulty SRS unit; replace the SRS unit. SRS Unit Replacement
