Circuit Description
How the Circuit Works (DX, DX-G)CAUTION: Your arms, hands, or fingers can be injured if the power window master switch is accidentally moved to the UP or DOWN position while working inside the door. Disconnect the window switch connector or the battery when working in the driver's door.
System Description
The power windows are driven by reversible motors. Each motor is protected by a built-in circuit breaker. If the window switch is held on too long (with the window obstructed, or after the window is fully up or down), the circuit breaker opens the circuit. The circuit breaker resets automatically as it cools.
The power windows are controlled by the power window master switch, as well as the individual power window switches in the respective passenger doors. When the main switch in the power window master switch is OFF, only the driver's power window can be operated. With the main switch ON, all power windows can be operated by the power window switches in the respective passenger doors, or with the power window master switch.
Driver's Window
When the ignition switch is moved to the ON or START position, voltage is applied to the coil of the power window relay, which closes the contacts and supplies voltage to the power window master switch through fuse 26 (in the under-dash fuse/relay box). When the driver's power window switch is moved to UP or DOWN, voltage is applied to the driver's power window motor (the motor is grounded through the contacts in the driver's power window switch), moving the window in the desired direction.
Passenger Windows
Battery voltage is provided to the power window relay through multi-fuse 4 (in the under-hood fuse/relay box). When the ignition switch is in the ON position, the MICU grounds the coil of the relay, supplying battery voltage to the power window master switch and to the individual power window switches in the passenger doors through fuses 30, 32 and 33 (in the under-dash fuse/relay box) respectively.
When the front passenger's power window switch is moved to UP, voltage is applied to the front passenger's power window motor. (The motor is grounded through the contacts in the front passenger's power window switch and the power window master switch.) The window moves up as long as the switch is held in the UP position. If the switch is moved to DOWN, voltage is applied in the opposite direction to the front passenger's power window motor, and the window moves down as long as the switch is held in the DOWN position.
On 4-door models, the power windows in the rear doors operate in the same manner as the front passenger's door.

When the driver's power window switch in the power window master switch is moved to the AUTO UP or AUTO DOWN position, voltage is supplied to the driver's power window motor, moving the window in the desired direction. The control unit in the power window master switch monitors the signal produced by the pulser unit in the power window motor. When the window has reached the full up or down position, the pulses stop, and the control unit removes voltage from the driver's power window motor.
Passenger Windows
