P2A00

DTC P2A00: A/F Sensor (Sensor 1) Circuit Range/Performance Problem (2004-2005 models)

NOTE:
- Information marked with an asterisk (*) applies to 2002-2003 models.
- Information marked with double asterisk (**)applies to 2004-2005 models.

1. Reset the ECM.
2. Start the engine. Hold the engine at 3,000 rpm without load (in neutral) until the radiator fan comes on.
3. Check for a Temporary DTC with the HDS or a scan tool.

Is Temporary DTC P1164* (P2A00)** indicated?

YES - Replace the A/F sensor (Sensor 1).

NO - Go to step 4.

4. Test-drive in 3rd gear. Starting at 1,600 rpm, accelerate using wide open throttle for at least 5 seconds. Then decelerate for at least 5 seconds with the throttle completely closed until the A/F sensor readiness code is set to complete or Temporary DTC P1164* (P2A00)** comes on.
5. Check for a Temporary DTC with the HDS or a scan tool.

Is Temporary DTC P1164* (P2A00)** indicated?

YES - Replace the A/F sensor (Sensor 1).

NO - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the A/F sensor relay, at the A/F sensor (Sensor 1), and at the ECM.
