Fuel Gauge Sender: Testing and Inspection
WARNING: Do not smoke while working on the fuel system. Keep open flame away from the work area.1. Remove the rear locking compartment.
2. Remove the fuel tank access panel from the floor.
3. With the ignition switch OFF, disconnect the 3P connector from the fuel gauge sending unit.
Sending Unit Test:
4. Remove the fuel gauge sending unit with the special tool shown.
Sending Unit Test:
5. Measure the resistance between the A and B terminals by moving the float to the distances listed for E (EMPTY), 1/2 (HALF FULL), and F (FULL).
6. If your readings are not within the ranges listed, replace the fuel gauge sending unit.
NOTE: Use new O-rings or gaskets when reassembling.
