ECM/PCM (MIL) Reset Procedure

NOTE: Resetting the ECM/PCM will erase any stored DTCs and any freeze data. It will also restart all readiness code monitors.



ECM/PCM (MIL) RESET PROCEDURE
Either of the following actions will reset the ECM/PCM.

1. Use the OBD II scan tool or Honda PGM Tester to clear the ECM's/PCM's memory.
- See the OBD II scan tool or Honda PGM Tester user's manuals for specific operating instructions.

2. Without Scan tool
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.




- Remove the BACK UP (7.5 A) fuse from the under-hood fuse/relay box for 10 seconds.

NOTE: Removing the BACK UP (7.5A) fuse also cancels the clock and the radio presets. Make note of the customer's settings so that you can reset them.


FINAL PROCEDURE (this procedure must be done after any troubleshooting).

1. Remove the SCS service connector is connected and there are no DTCs stored in the ECM/PCM, the MIL will stay on when the ignition switch is turned ON (Position II).

NOTE: If the SCS service connector is connected and there are no DTCs stored in the ECM/PCM, the MIL will stay on when the ignition switch is turned ON (Position II).

2. Do one of the ECM/PCM Reset Procedures described above.
3. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
