DTC 18 (Wheel Sensor/Pulser, Rear Left)

ABS INDICATOR LIGHT "ON" *

DIAGNOSIS - Wheel Sensor/Pulser DTC 12

SYMPTOM - Chipped pulser gear/noise.

DETECTION TIMING
Initial Diagnosis - no
Except ABS Control - yes
During ABS Control - yes
During Warning - yes

PROBABLE CAUSE
- Short to wheel sensor (0) circuit in the wheel sensor (1 ) circuit.
- Faulty wheel sensor installation.
- Chipped pulser gear.
- Faulty ABS control unit.

CONDITION FOR DETECTION
The ABS indicator comes on under the following conditions.
- When more than one of wheels are at a standstill and the velocity of the fastest wheel reaches a given speed.
- When the velocity of the fastest wheel reaches or exceeds a given speed, and if there are some wheels whose velocity is slower than a certain percentage of the fastest wheel speed for a given period.
- When there are temporary open or short circuits of the wheel sensor, chipped pulser gear, or signal disturbance.

Except ABS Control - System down

* If DTC's 11 through 18 (wheel sensor codes) were detected the last time the car was driven, the ABS indicator light will stay on until the ignition switch is turned on (II), and the control unit confirms that the wheel sensors are OK.
