A4 - Glass Camber Adjustment

A4 - GLASS CAMBER ADJUSTMENT

1. Open the door, and locate the flat spot molded into the quarter window seal 40 mm from the top end of the run channel.

2. Roll the window down. Place a one-inch wooden dowel (or other suitable stop exactly four inches long) on top of the striker; then slowly close the door until it rests against the end of the dowel.

3. Measure the distance from the center of the flat spot to the nearest painted edge of the "A" pillar; it should be 38 to 40 mm.

^ If the distance is more than 40 mm, go to step 4.

^ If the distance is less than 38 mm, go to step 5.

4. With the door closed against the 4-inch stop, carefully push inward (not rearward!) on the top of the quarter window frame with the heel of one hand. Recheck your measurement. Repeat until the distance is correct, then go to step 6.

NOTICE
Too much force can break welds, damage the edges of the seal, and distort the run channel.

If the front edge of the quarter window seal is not parallel to the edge of the "A" pillar, the quarter window may have been bent rearward or bent too far inward. Inspect the run channel to see if its sides are bent where it enters the window sill (this can create air leaks and wind noise). If the sides are bent, straighten them; if they can't be straightened, remove the door panel and replace the run channel.

^ The quarter window is permanently bonded to a rubber molding; excessive bending may break the adhesion between the two and create a water leak or excessive wind noise. If this happens, refer to C1 (last page) for repair.

5. Open the door. Push against the window sill with one hand while you carefully pull outward on the top of the quarter window frame with the other hand. and then recheck your measurement. Repeat until the distance is correct.

6. Leak test the repaired area.
