Removal
WARNING:- Make sure jacks and safety stands are placed properly,and hoist brackets are attached to correct position on the engine.
- Apply parking brake and block rear wheels so car will not roll off stands and fall on you while working under it.
CAUTION: Use fender covers to avoid damaging painted surfaces.
1. Disconnect the battery negative (-) and positive (+) cables from the battery.
2. Remove the resonator, intake air duct, and air cleaner assembly.
3. Drain the transmission oil.
4. Disconnect the starter motor cables and transmission ground wire.
5. Remove the wire harness clamp.
6. Disconnect the back-up light switch connector and vehicle speed sensor (VSS) connector.
7. Remove the clutch pipe bracket and slave cylinder.
NOTE: Do not operate the clutch pedal once the slave cylinder has been removed.
8. Remove the driveshafts.Service and Repair
NOTE: Coat all precision finished surfaces with clean engine oil or grease. Tie plastic bags over the driveshaft ends.
9. Remove exhaust pipe A.
10. Remove the shift rod and extension rod.
11. Remove the front and rear engine stiffeners (D16Z6 engine).
12. Remove the clutch cover.
13. Install the bolts in the cylinder head and attach a chain hoist to the bolts, then lift the engine slightly to unload the mounts.
14. Remove the splash guard and front stopper bracket.
15. Place a jack under the transmission.
16. Remove the transmission mount.
17. Remove the three upper transmission mounting bolts and lower starter mounting bolt
18. Remove the transmission rear mount bracket bolts and transmission mounting bolts.
19. Pull the transmission away from the engine until it clears the mainshaft, then lower it on the transmission jack.
