Variable Induction Control Actuator: Description and Operation

PURPOSE
The Intake Air Bypass (IAB) Control Diaphragm is used to open and close the IAB Valve which directs intake air through the intake manifold.

OPERATION
When the IAB Control Solenoid Valve, as directed by the Programmed Fuel Injection Electronic Control Module (PGM-FI ECM), supplies vacuum to the IAB Control Diaphragm the IAB Valve is in the full close position (low speed operation). When vacuum is cut, the IAB Control Diaphragm then moves the IAB Valve to the full open position for optimum performance at higher engine speeds.
