Resonator Control Solenoid: Testing and Inspection

1. Start engine and allow it to idle.

Measuring Vacuum At Intake Control Solenoid Valve Upper Port.:

2. Remove the number 8 hose and check for vacuum at the Intake Control Solenoid Valve. Vacuum should read manifold vacuum.
3. If no vacuum is measured disconnect the lower hose at the Intake Control Solenoid Valve and check for vacuum at the hose. Vacuum should read manifold vacuum.

Intake Control Solenoid Valve Connector Terminal Identification.:

4. Disconnect the two pin connector from the Intake Control Solenoid Valve and measure voltage between the BLACK/YELLOW (+) connector terminal and the WHITE (-) connector terminal. Voltage should read battery voltage.
5. If voltage checks ok but no vacuum is measured at upper port of the Intake Control Solenoid Valve, replace the Intake Control Solenoid Valve.
6. If voltage and vacuum readings check OK, reconnect the two pin connector and raise engine speed to 4200 rpm. measure vacuum at upper port of Intake Control Solenoid Valve. there should be no vacuum.
^ If vacuum exists, disconnect the two pin connector at the Intake Control Solenoid Valve.
^ If vacuum still exists at upper port of Intake Control Solenoid Valve, replace Intake Control Solenoid Valve.
