Function Test

Place vehicle on level ground with wheels blocked. Place transaxle in the Neutral position for manual transaxle models and in the Park position for automatic transaxle models during function test. Always disconnect anti-lock brake checker before driving vehicle. A collision can result from a reduction or complete loss of braking ability.

1. With ignition switch off, disconnect 6-P inspection connector from connector cover on crossmember under passenger seat and connect it to anti-lock brake checker tool Nos. 07HAJ-SG0010A, or 07HAJ-SG0010B, or equivalents.
2. Start engine and release parking brake.
3. Turn mode selector switch on anti-lock brake checker to 1.
4. Push start test switch and observe the following:
a. Test in progress light should come on. When test in progress light is on, do not turn mode selector switch.
b. In one or two more seconds, all four monitor lights should come on. If they do not come on, the checker is faulty.
c. Dash anti-lock warning light should not come on. If it does come on, the checker harness to 6-P connector is faulty.
5. Turn mode selector switch on anti-lock brake checker to 2.
6. Depress brake pedal and push start test switch.
7. While busy or test in progress light is on, there should be kickback on brake pedal and dash anti-lock warning light should not come on.
8. Repeat steps 5 and 6 for each of the remaining modes.
9. If little or no kickback is felt from brake pedal in modes 2 through 5, check for shorted wires, faulty or disconnected power unit connector or faulty power unit. If the anti-lock brake system warning light comes on in mode 1, check all wiring.
