Canister Purge Solenoid: Description and Operation
Evaporative Emission Control System:
PURPOSE
Used to control vacuum to the EVAP purge control valve.
LOCATION
Located center of firewall
OPERATION
Canister purging is accomplished by drawing fresh air through the canister and into a port on the throttle body. The ported vacuum is controlled by the purge control diaphragm valve which is controlled by the Purge Cut-off Solenoid Valve.
NOTE: 5 seconds after engine start, the purge cut-off solenoid valve remains off until coolant temperature warms above 167°F (75°C).
