Door/Trunk Ajar Indicator/Lamp: Description and Operation

The safety indicator lights come on to alert the driver to safety related conditions. With the ignition in ON (II) or START (III), battery voltage is supplied through fuse 13 to the safety indicator circuit and each of the indicators.

Indicator Check

When the ignition switch is in ON (II) or START (III), the safety indicator circuit grounds each bulb for several seconds. The indicator lights go on for several seconds to test the indicators.

Ajar Indicators

When the door switch or the trunk latch switch is closed (door or trunk open) a ground is provided for the appropriate indicator. The indicators remain on as long as the switch is closed, and go off when the switch is open (door or trunk closed).
