Oil Pump: Service and Repair

1. Drain engine oil into a suitable container, then turn crankshaft so No. 1 piston is at TDC.
2. Remove splash shield, then remove timing belt.
3. Remove timing belt and timing balancer belt as outlined under Timing Belt.
4. Remove timing belt tensioner and timing balancer belt tensioner.
5. Remove timing belt drive pulley and timing balancer belt driven pulley.
6. Remove balancer gear case and the balancer driven gear.
7. Remove oil pan and oil screen.

8. Remove mounting bolts and oil pump assembly, Fig. 59.
9. Reverse procedure to install.
