Disc Thickness and Parallelism
1. Loosen the rear wheel lug nuts slightly, then raise the car and support on safety stands. Remove the rear wheels.2. Remove the brake pads, refer to Brakes and Traction Control/Brakes/Disc Brake System/Brake Pad/Service and Repair.
Measuring Disc Thickness To Check For Parallelism:
3. Using a micrometer, measure disc thickness at eight points, approximately 45° apart and 0.4 in (10 mm) in from the outer edge of the disc.
Brake Disc Thickness:
Standard: 0.39 in (10.0 mm)
Brake Disc Parallelism: 0.0006 in (0.015 mm) max.
NOTE: This is the maximum allowable difference between any thickness measurements.
4. If the disc is beyond the service limit for parallelism, refinish the rotor.
Max. Refinishing Limit: 0.32 in (8.0 mm)
