With SRS
CAUTION: All SRS electrical wiring harnesses are covered with yellow outer insulation. Before disconnecting the SRS wire harness, install the short connector(s) on the airbag(s). Replace the entire affected SRS harness assembly if it has an open circuit or damaged wiring. Disconnect the battery negative cable, then disconnect the positive cable. Make sure the wheels are turned straight ahead. Remove the access panel below the airbag, then remove the short connector RED from the panel.4. Disconnect the 3-P connector between the airbag and the cable reel.
5. Install the short connector (RED) on the airbag(s).
6. Remove the dashboard lower cover.
7. Disconnect the cable reel harness 6-P connector from the SRS main harness, then connect Test Harness C only to the cable reel harness.
8. Check for continuity between the No.3 terminal and body ground with the horn switch pressed. There should be continuity.
9. Remove the two TORX(R) bolts using a TORX(R) T30 bit. then remove the driver's airbag assembly.
10. Check for continuity between the horn positive terminal end the steering column shaft with the horn switch pressed. There should be no continuity.
If there is continuity.
- With cruise control: Test the set/resume switch. If the switch is OK, replace the cable reel.
- Without cruise control: Replace the cable reel.
If there is no continuity
- remove the steering wheel and the four screws. then remove the steering wheel cover. Replace the faulty horn switch.
11. Reinstall the steering wheel.
