Tailgate Rattles
SYMPTOM
A rattling noise coming from the back of the car when driving on rough roads.
PROBABLE CAUSE
The tailgate strikers are hitting against the latches.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Center the tailgate strikers in the latches.
1. Open the rear window and tailgate.
2. Loosen the striker mounting bolts (two per side).
3. Move the strikers up or down to center them in the latches.
4. Tighten the striker mounting bolts to the specified torque.
5. Apply a small amount of high temp urea grease (see REQUIRED MATERIALS) to the strikers. Clean off any excess.
6. Make sure the tailgate opens and closes properly.
