Gas Filler Door Fails to OpenPROBLEM:

In very cold weather, the cable for the gas filler door may ice up and keep the door from opening when the release is operated...

CORRECTIVE ACTION:

1. Remove the trim and panels necessary to gain access to the release cable at the gas filler door.

2. Disconnect the release cable from the gas filler door.

3. Spray a water-dispersing light lubricant, such as WD-40 or 3M 4-way #08902, into the end of the release cable.

4. Pack the end of the cable with silicone grease.

Reinstall the cable.:

5. To prevent a recurrence of the problem, reinstall the cable with an upward curve of the end that goes to the fuel filler door, and secure it as shown.
