Shift Interlock: Description and Operation
CIRCUIT OPERATIONVoltage is applied through the BACK Fuse to the PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH with the Ignition Switch in the "ON" and "START" positions. With the manual selector lever in "P" (park) and the brake pedal depressed, voltage is applied through the closed contacts of the PARK/
NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH and the STOPLAMP SWITCH to the SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID. The SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID is permanently grounded at G200. With voltage applied, the SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID energizes and releases the manual selector lever locking mechanism.
