With Upgraded Emissions


Before starting engine place transaxle gear selector in Park (Neutral for M/T) and set parking brake and block drive wheels.

1. Inspect lead wires and hoses of the throttle body fuel injection (TBI) unit and evaporative emissions (EVAP) system for proper connection and routing.

2. Check ignition timing, and adjust if necessary.

3. Turn "OFF" all accessories (A/C, wipers, heater, lights, etc.).

4. Make sure air cleaner is installed correctly.

5. Start engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature and idle (accessories off).

6. Check accelerator cable for free movement and some play.

7. Connect a scan tool to the Diagnostic Link Connector.

8. Check idle speed on scan tool.

^ Manual Transaxle Vehicles 800 ± 50 rpm.
^ Automatic Transaxle Vehicles 850 ± 50 rpm.

NOTE: If the idle speed is out of specifications, inspect the Idle Speed Control (ISC) system. Do not attempt to manually adjust idle speed, as damage to ISC system may result.

9. Disconnect scan tool from Diagnostic Link Connector.
