Transaxle Control System

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The 2nd brake solenoid is energized and de-energized by the Transmission Control Module (TCM) in response to varying transaxle shift demands. With the 2nd brake solenoid de-energized, line pressure is applied to the 1-2 shift valve. With line pressure applied, the 1-2 shift valve operates, and the transaxle shifts from first to second gear. When the TCM energizes the 2nd brake solenoid, line pressure is relieved, and the 1-2 shift valve does not operate.

DTC 24 will set if the following condition is met:
^ TCM sees voltage drop on 2nd brake solenoid control circuit to something approaching 0V during attempted solenoid energizing.

TEST DESCRIPTION
Number(s) below meter to circled number(s) on the diagnostic chart.
1. Checks for a short to ground in 2nd brake solenoid control circuit or for a faulty TCM
2. Checks for a short to ground in ORN/GRN wire between TCM and connector C108.
3. Checks for a short to ground in YEL wire between C108 and 2nd brake solenoid connector or for a faulty solenoid.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
An intermittent may be caused by a poor connection, rubbed through wire insulation or a wire broken inside the insulation. Inspect the TCM harness connectors for backed out terminals, improper mating, broken locks, improperly formed or damaged terminals and for poor terminal-to-wire connections.
