Arming Sensor

1. Deactivate airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG DEACTIVATION.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Remove instrument panel assembly.
4. On Storm models, disconnect defroster duct from cowl.
5. On all models, remove CPA and disconnect electrical connector.
6. Loosen sensor mounting bolts and remove sensor.
7. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Install sensor with arrow pointing toward front of vehicle.
b. On Metro models, torque mounting bolts to 53 inch lbs.
c. On Storm models, torque mounting bolts to 89 inch lbs.
d. On all models, following installation, activate airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG ACTIVATION.
e. Turn ignition switch to the On position and verify the ``Inflatable Restraint'' indicator flashes 7 to 9 times then turns Off. If indicator does not respond, refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING PROCEDURE/TESTING PROCEDURES/RETRIEVING TROUBLE CODES.
