Throttle Position Sensor: Adjustments

1. Remove negative battery cable.

2. Remove two EVAP hoses, A/C solenoid hose (if equipped), IAT sensor electrical connector and air cleaner from throttle body.

3. Throttle Position Sensor electrical connector.

TPS Location Metro W/ Std Emissions:






4. Loosen TPS attaching screws.

5. Adjust TPS;

TPS Check Metro W/ Std Emissions:






^ Connect an ohmmeter from terminal "1" to terminal "2" of TPS.

Throttle Lever Stop Screw:




TPS Adjustment Metro W/ Std Emissions:






^ Insert 0.3 mm (.012 in) feeler gage between throttle stop screw and throttle lever and with retaining screws loosely installed, turn TPS fully clockwise, then slowly counter clockwise just until ohmmeter indicates continuity. Tighten TPS retaining screws to 2 Nm (18 in.lbs.).

^ Remove feeler gauge ohmmeter should still indicate continuity.

Throttle Lever Stop Screw:






^ Insert 0.9 mm (.035 in) feeler gage between throttle stop screw and throttle lever ohmmeter should indicate an open circuit.

6. Connect TPS electrical connector.

7. Connect two EVAP hoses, A/C solenoid hose (if equipped), IAT sensor electrical connector and install air cleaner to throttle body.

8. Connect negative battery cable.
