Power Steering Fluid Cooler: Service and Repair




Power Steering Fluid Cooler Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the fascia grille. Refer to Fascia Grille Replacement .
2. Remove the radiator grille reinforcement support, if equipped. Refer to Radiator Grille Reinforcement Support Replacement Radiator Grille Reinforcement Support Replacement.
3. Remove as much power steering fluid from the power steering fluid reservoir as possible.
4. Place drain pans under the vehicle as needed.





Caution: Refer to Power Steering Hose Disconnected Caution Service Precautions.

5. Disconnect the power steering fluid cooler hose (3) from the steering gear (2).
6. Disconnect the power steering fluid cooler hose (4) from the power steering pump (1).




7. Remove the power steering fluid cooler bolts (2).
8. Remove the power steering fluid cooler (1) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the power steering fluid cooler (1) to the vehicle.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

2. Install the power steering fluid cooler bolts (2).

Tighten the bolts to 9 Nm (80 lb in).




3. Connect the power steering fluid cooler hose (4) to the power steering pump (1).
4. Connect the power steering fluid cooler hose (3) to the steering gear (2).
5. Clean any excess fluid from the vehicle and remove the drain pans.
6. Install the radiator grille reinforcement support, if equipped. Refer to Radiator Grille Reinforcement Support Replacement Radiator Grille Reinforcement Support Replacement.
7. Install the fascia grille. Refer to Fascia Grille Replacement .
8. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding Service and Repair.
