Engine Control Module - Removal






REMOVAL

NOTE: If a replacement (new) Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is installed, a scan tool must be used to program (flash) the new PCM with vehicle specific information.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.





2. Disconnect the PCM harness connectors (2).
3. Grasp PCM (1) and pull up firmly to release PCM (1) from the retaining bracket.

Vehicles Equipped With Dual Batteries

1. Disconnect both negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect the positive cable from under hood battery.
3. Remove the under hood battery.





4. Remove fasteners and position aside the washer reservoir.





5. Remove the upper battery tray bolt (1).





6. Remove the front two bolts (1) securing the battery tray.





7. Remove lower bolt (1) and battery tray (2).





8. Disconnect the Powertrain Control Module PCM harness connectors (2).
9. Grasp PCM (1) and pull up firmly to release PCM (1) from the retaining bracket.
