Catalytic Converter - Installation






3.0L DIESEL










NOTE: Transmission removed for clarity.

1. Position the catalytic converter (1) into the vehicle.
2. Install the catalytic converter (1) to the diesel particulate filter clamp (2). Do not tighten at this time.










3. Install the oxygen sensor (2). Tighten to 50 Nm (36 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the catalytic converter temperature sensor (4). Tighten to 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.).
5. Install the turbocharger elbow to the catalytic converter bracket bolt (1). Do not tighten at this time.
6. Check the exhaust system for contact with the body panels. Make any adjustments, if necessary.
7. Install the catalytic converter bracket bolt (1). Tighten to 8 Nm (70 in. lbs.).
8. Tighten clamp nuts to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).





9. Lower the vehicle.
10. Install the rear EGR tube. Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Tube - Installation
11. Install the catalytic converter (5) to turbocharger (3) bolts. Tighten the bolts to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.) and then add another 90° of rotation.
12. Install the turbocharger heat shield. Tighten to 8 Nm (70 in. lbs.).
13. Install the engine cover.
14. Install the air box assembly.Air Cleaner Body - Installation
15. Connect the negative battery cable.
16. If equipped, connect the auxiliary battery negative cable.
17. Start the vehicle and inspect for exhaust leaks. Repair any exhaust leaks as necessary.
