Power Sunroof - Operation

OPERATION

This vehicle has a vent, tilt and slide power sunroof system with express open feature. The sunroof system receives battery feed through a 25 amp fuse located in the fuse block number five. The sunroof system power is supplied when the ignition switch is in the RUN and ACCESSORY positions. The sunroof will operate normally with the key in any position while the Accessory Delay system is active. For more information see the appropriate wiring diagrams.

The sunroof is electrically operated from a switch located on the headliner between the front driver and passenger seats just behind the upper windshield opening header. What is commonly known as the overhead console on most vehicles is replaced by the Roof Control Module (RCM) for the Sprinter. The RCM controls the sunroof motor. The switch can be moved in four directions. Push, pull, slide forward and slide back/aft. The switch mimics the operation of the sunroof. To vent, push up the switch. To close, either pull down the switch, or slide the switch forward. For express open, slide the switch back pass the detent and release. This will vent the sunroof, then slides the glass back.

In case of power failure or sunroof motor failure, the sunroof can be manually open/closed. Remove the access hole cover on the sunroof trim ring. Using a flat bladed tool, insert into opening and turn to open/close the sunroof.

NOTE: If the Roof Control Module (RCM) or any sunroof component is replaced, the sunroof has to be normalized. .
