Rear Vision Camera: Testing and Inspection

REAR CAMERA INOPERATIVE

For a complete wiring diagram, Refer to the Wiring Information Electrical Diagrams.

- When Monitored:
Ignition on, vehicle in reverse.

- Set Condition:
No rear picture is displayed on radio with the vehicle in reverse.





1. VERIFY OPERATION OF THE REAR VIDEO MONITOR AND BACKUP LAMPS
1. Verify the operation of the Rear Video Monitor and Backup Lamps.

Do the Rear Video Monitor and Backup Lamps operate correctly?

Yes

- Go To 2

No

- Diagnose any problems with the Rear Video Monitor and Backup Lamps.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Verification Tests.

2. REAR CAMERA FEED CIRCUIT
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Apply the parking brake.
3. Disconnect the Rear Video Camera harness connector.
4. Turn the ignition on.
5. Shift the vehicle into reverse.
6. Measure the voltage of the Rear Camera Feed circuit.

Is voltage present?

Yes

- Go To 3

No

- Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, repair the Rear Camera Feed circuit for an open or short to ground.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Verification Tests.

3. REAR CAMERA GROUND CIRCUIT
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Measure the resistance between ground and the Ground Circuit.

Is the resistance below 10.0 Ohms?

Yes

- Go To 4

No

- Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, repair the Ground circuit for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Verification Tests.

4. REAR CAMERA CIRCUITS OPEN
1. Disconnect the Rear Video Monitor harness connector.
2. Measure the resistance of the Rear Camera circuits.

Is the resistance below 10.0 Ohms on the Rear Camera circuits?

Yes

- Go To 5

No

- Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, repair the appropriate circuit for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Verification Tests.

5. REAR CAMERA CIRCUITS SHORTED TO GROUND
1. Measure the resistance between ground and the Rear Camera circuits.

Is the resistance below 10.0 Ohms on the Rear Camera circuits?

Yes

- Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, repair the appropriate circuit for a short to ground.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Verification Tests.

No

- Replace the Rear Video Camera.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Verification Tests.
