Switch Bank Module
9034-HEATED SEATS DISABLED - LOW BATTERY VOLTAGE
For a complete wiring diagram, Refer to the Wiring Information Electrical Diagrams.
- When Monitored:
With the ignition on.
- Set Condition:
If the Switch Bank Module (SBM) senses less than 11.0 Volts on the Fused B(+) circuit for more than 15 seconds.
1. CHECK FOR ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) DTCS
NOTE: Make sure the vehicle battery is in good condition. Using the Midtronics Battery Tester, test the vehicle battery before continuing.
NOTE: Inspect the vehicle for after market accessories that may exceed the generator system output.
NOTE: Make sure the generator drive belt is in good operating condition.
NOTE: Inspect related fuses. If an open fuse is found, use the wire diagram/schematic as a guide and inspect the wiring and connectors for damage.
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, read active ECM DTCs.
Does the scan tool display any active ECM DTCs?
Yes
- Testing and Inspection for the diagnostic test procedure.
No
- Go To 2
2. CHECK HEATED SEAT FUSE
1. Inspect the heated seat fuse.
Is the fuse open?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Go To 4
3. SHORTED HEATED SEAT DRIVER CIRCUIT
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the Switch Bank Module C1 connector.
NOTE: Check connectors. Clean and repair as necessary.
3. Measure the Left and Right Heated Seat Driver circuits at the Switch Bank Module C1 connector to chassis ground.
Is the resistance below 1.0 ohm on either circuit?
Yes
- Repair the short to ground in the seat heater element circuit and replace the fuse.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Verification Tests.
No
- Replace the fuse.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Verification Tests.
4. OPEN FUSED B(+) TO MODULE
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the Switch Bank Module C1 connector.
NOTE: Check connectors. Clean and repair as necessary.
3. Turn the ignition on.
4. Using a 12-Volt test light connected to ground, check the Fused B(+) circuit at the C1 connector.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
No
- Repair the Fused B(+) circuit for an open or high resistance.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Verification Tests.
Yes
- Go To 5
5. CHECK FOR AN OPEN SEAT HEATER ELEMENT CIRCUIT
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Check the seat heater element circuit total resistance by measuring the Left and Right Heated Seat Driver circuits to chassis ground.
Is either heated seat circuit open?
Yes
- Check for and repair an open in the Heated Seat Driver wire, heater element pigtail harness, ground circuit for the heating elements or replace the heater element(s) as necessary.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Verification Tests.
No
- Replace the Switch Bank Module (SBM).
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Verification Tests.
