0006-LOST COMMUNICATION WITH CCN
For a complete wiring diagram, Refer to the Wiring Information Electrical Diagrams.
Theory of Operation
Some controllers communicate with other controllers over the CAN C BUS. The Electronic Shift Module (ESM) continuously monitors BUS activity and reads the messages it needs. The CAN C BUS is also used to communicate the MIL status to the Engine Controller.
- When Monitored:
Ignition on.
- Set Condition:
The ESM has lost communication with the instrument cluster. The circuit is continuously monitored.
1. ACTIVE DTC
NOTE: Review the vehicle repair history. If the Electronic Ignition Switch/Central Gateway Module has been replaced, make sure the that it has been programmed correctly.
1. Ignition on, engine not running.
2. With a scan tool, read DTCs.
Is the DTC active at this time?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Go To 3
2. OTHER COMMUNICATION DTC(S)
1. Using the scan tool, check other CAN C modules.
Are communication DTC(s) present?
Yes
- Perform the appropriate Loss of Communication diagnostic procedure.Communications - Verbose Codes
No
- Replace the Shift Lever Assembly (ESM).
- Perform the NAG1 TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. NAG1 Transmission Verification Test.
3. INTERMITTENT CONDITION
NOTE: Check for any of the follow conditions:
- Poor wire to terminal connection
- Corroded terminals
- Backed out or loose terminals
- Broken wire internal to the insulation
- Dirty (partial) module ground
Were any of the above condition present?
Yes
- Repair as necessary.
- Perform the NAG1 TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. NAG1 Transmission Verification Test.
No
- Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time.
