Programmable Special Module (PSM)






950B-ENGINE START UNSUCCESSFUL-CRANK NO START

- When Monitored:
With the Programmable Special Module (PSM) is awake.

- Set Condition:
The Programmable Special Module (PSM) detects the Engine start attempt was unsuccessful because at least one switch-on condition was not met.





1. TEST FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITION
1. With the scan tool, record and erase DTCs
2. Start the engine.
3. Turn the engine off, leaving the ignition in the on position.
4. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?

Yes

- Go To 2

No

- The condition that caused this symptom is currently not present. Check for an intermittent condition by inspecting the related wiring harness for chafed, pierced, pinched, and partially broken wires. Also, inspect the related connectors for broken, bent, pushed out, spread, corroded, or contaminated terminals. Repair as necessary.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST Verification Tests.

2. CHECK ENGINE START/STOP SIGNAL SETTINGS
1. With the scan tool, Check Engine start/stop signal settings.

Are the signal settings valid and the parameters set?

Yes

- Replace the Programmable Special Module (PSM).
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST Verification Tests.

No

- Go To 3

3. PROGRAMMABLE SPECIAL MODULE
1. Using the scan tool, perform Programmable Special Module (PSM) Reset ECU and Load Coding for vehicle application.
2. Cycle the ignition on and off three times.
3. Start the engine.
4. Turn the engine off, leaving the ignition in the on position.
5. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?

Yes

- Replace the Programmable Special Module (PSM).
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST Verification Tests.

No

- Test Complete.
