Vibration Damper - Removal

REMOVAL





1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.
3. Remove both front lower splash shields (1,2).




4. Remove the transmission thermal bypass valve (2), and the cooler lines (1) between the block (2) and transmission.




5. Remove the starter blank.
6. Install special tool #9102 flywheel locking tool.




7. Release the accessory drive belt tension by resetting the drive belt tensioner (1) and installing a retaining pin.




8. Remove the vibration damper (2) bolt.
9. Install special tool #9544 vibration damper puller (1).

CAUTION: Care must be taken when removing the damper. DO NOT damage or gouge the front crankshaft seal

10. Remove the vibration damper (2).
