Description

DESCRIPTION

The washer fluid level switch (2) is a two-pin conductivity sensor with no moving parts mounted on the forward facing side of the washer reservoir (1) adjacent to the headlamp washer pump/motor unit (3) mounting hole of vehicles so equipped in the engine compartment. Only the molded plastic switch body and the integral connector receptacle are visible when the switch is installed in the reservoir. A flat on one side of the switch body indexes the switch to a molded flat that extends from the reservoir just inboard of the switch mounting hole. The switch is connected to the vehicle electrical system through a dedicated take out and connector of the vehicle wire harness.

A short nipple formation extends from the inner surface of the switch mounting flange, and a barb on the nipple is pressed through a rubber grommet seal installed in the mounting hole of the reservoir. Two over-molded pins or electrodes extend from the back of the nipple formation.

The washer fluid level switch cannot be adjusted or repaired. If ineffective or damaged, the switch must be replaced.
