DESCRIPTION

The hood ajar switch (1) is a normally closed, single pole, spring-loaded paddle switch. The switch paddle is actuated by the hood latch mechanism when the hood is closed. This switch is used only on vehicles equipped with the Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS) for sale in certain markets where protection of the underhood area is required equipment.

The molded plastic switch body has an integral molded mount (3) that is secured to the underside of the hood latch beneath the upper radiator support crossmember cover. The switch is connected to the vehicle electrical system through a pigtail wire (2) and connector.

The hood ajar switch cannot be readjusted or repaired. If the switch is damaged or ineffective, it must be replaced with a new unit.
