INSTALLATION
WARNING: To avoid serious or fatal injury on vehicles equipped with airbags, disable the supplemental restraint system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, airbag, seat belt tensioner, impact sensor, or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the supplemental restraint system. Failure to take the proper precautions could result in accidental airbag deployment.
NOTE: Several versions of the Roof Control Module (RCM) (also known as the Overhead Control Panel/OCP control unit or DBE) are available, which vary depending upon the standard and optional vehicle equipment. Be certain that a new RCM is the correct replacement for one that is being removed.
1. Position the Overhead Control Panel (OCP) housing (2) and the Roof Control Module (RCM) into the vehicle as a unit.
2. Reconnect the wire harness connection to the receptacle on the top of the RCM and to the hands-free microphone if the vehicle is so equipped.
3. Engage the two fixed retention tabs on the left side of the OCP housing above the headliner (1) through the left side of the mounting hole.
4. Slide the OCP housing toward the left side of the vehicle far enough to engage the two spring clips (3) on the right side of the housing through the right side of the headliner mounting hole.
5. Using hand pressure, push the right side of the OCP housing up firmly and evenly into the right side of the mounting hole until the two spring clips are fully engaged above the headliner.
6. Snap the right front dome/reading lamp lens back into the OCP housing.
7. Reconnect the battery negative cable.
