Tire Pressure Monitoring

9242-TPM ANTENNA NOT CONNECTED

For a complete wiring diagram Consult Diagrams/Electrical.

- When Monitored:
With the ignition on. Battery voltage greater than 10.4 volts.

- Set Condition:
The TPM Module receives a distorted signal from the Tire Pressure Front Transponder

Always perform the Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding.Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview.

Diagnostic Test

1. ACTIVE DTC
Ignition on, engine not running.
With a scan tool, read DTCs.
Is the DTC active at this time?

Yes

- Go To 3

No

- Go To 2

2. INTERMITTENT CONDITION
NOTE: Check for any of the follow conditions:
- Poor wire to terminal connection
- Corroded terminals
- Backed out or loose terminals
- Broken wire internal to the insulation
- Dirty (partial) module ground

Were any of the above condition present?

Yes

- Repair as necessary.
- Perform TPM VERIFICATION TEST

No

DTC is not active at this time. Test complete.

3. FRONT TIRE PRESSURE TRANSPONDER
Turn the ignition on.
Using the scan tool, perform the Tire Pressure Signal Transmission Test on the Front Tire Pressure Sensors.
Was the signal transmission test successful for both sensors?

Yes

- Go to 4

No

- Go to 5

4. REAR TIRE PRESSURE TRANSPONDER
Turn the ignition on.
Using the scan tool, perform the Tire Pressure Signal Transmission Test on the rear tire pressure sensors.
Was the signal transmission test successful for both sensors?

Yes

- Replace the TPM Module.
- Perform TPM VERIFICATION TEST.

No

- Go to 5

5. TRANSPONDER LIN BUS CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE
Ignition off.
Disconnect the TPM Module harness connector.
Turn the ignition on
Measure the voltage on the Transponder LIN Bus circuit in the TPM Module harness connector.
Is voltage present?

Yes

- Repair the short to voltage in the Transponder LIN Bus circuit.
- Perform TPM VERIFICATION TEST

No

- Go To 6

6. TRANSPONDER LIN BUS CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
Turn the ignition off.
Measure the resistance of the Transponder LIN Bus circuit from the Transponder harness connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?

Yes

- Repair the open in the Transponder LIN Bus circuit.
- Perform TPM VERIFICATION TEST

No

- Go To 7

7. TRANSPONDER LIN BUS CIRCUIT OPEN
Turn the ignition off.
Connect a jumper wire from the Transponder LIN Bus circuit in the Transponder harness connector to ground.
Using a test light connected to battery voltage, probe the Transponder LIN Bus circuit in the TPM Module harness connector.

NOTE: The test light should be illuminated and bright. Compare the brightness to that of a direct connection to the battery.

Does the test light illuminate brightly?

Yes

- Replace and program the TPM Module.
- Perform TPM VERIFICATION TEST

No

- Repair the open in the Transponder LIN Bus circuit.
- Perform TPM VERIFICATION TEST
