9100-LEFT SIDE IMPACT SENSOR 1 CONFIGURATION ERROR
Theory of Operation
When powered, the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) compares the vehicle component configuration to the vehicle equipment. The ORC cannot be re-configured and must be replaced if this DTC is active.
- When Monitored:
With the ignition ON.
- Set Condition:
The Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) on board diagnostics compares the vehicle component configuration to the vehicle equipment. The left and right impact sensor 1 must be configured as the same type of sensor or this DTC will be set active.
Always perform the Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding.
1. REPLACE SIDE IMPACT SENSOR
With the scan tool, compare the left and right side impact sensor 1 configurations.
Replace the nonconforming sensor.
Remove any special tools or jumper wires and reconnect all previously disconnected components - except the Battery.
WARNING: To avoid serious or fatal injury, turn the ignition on, then reconnect the battery.
With the scan tool, erase all DTC in all Restraint System Modules.
Turn the Ignition off, wait 15 seconds, then turn the Ignition on.
Wait one minute before proceeding.
With the scan tool, read active ORC DTC.
Does the scan tool display: 9100-LEFT SIDE IMPACT SENSOR 1 CONFIGURATION ERROR?
Yes
WARNING: If the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) is dropped at any time, it must be replaced. Failure to take the proper precautions could result in accidental airbag deployment and serious or fatal injury.
WARNING: To avoid serious or fatal injury, turn the ignition off, disconnect the battery and wait two minutes before proceeding.
- Replace the ORC.
- Perform *RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Verification Tests

- Repair complete. Perform *RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Verification Tests
