9098-ORC TRIGGERED ENHANCED ACCIDENT RESPONSE SYSTEM - BCM
For a complete wiring diagram Consult Diagrams/Electrical.
- When Monitored:
Continuously with ignition on.
- Set Condition:
When the BCM receives an ORC crash event, it will trigger the Enhanced Accident Response System thereby unlocking all doors, turning on the interior lamps and shutting the ignition off.
Theory of Operation
The ORC also provides electronic message outputs over the CAN data bus following a supplemental restraint deployment event. This output is used to signal other electronic modules in the vehicle to provide their enhanced accident response features, which include, automatically disabling the engine from running, unlocking all of the doors and illuminating the interior lighting. However, these responses are each dependent upon the circuits, components, and modules controlling these features remaining intact from collateral damage incurred during the vehicle impact.
