9078-WINDSHIELD HEATER CONTROL CIRCUIT LOW - BCM

- When Monitored:
Continuously
- Set Condition:
When the Body Control Module detects a shorted low condition on the relay control circuit this DTC will set.
Diagnostic Test
1. TEST FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITION
With the scan tool, record and erase DTC's
Start the engine.
Operate the heated windshield switch several times.
With the scan tool, read DTC's.
Does the scan tool display 9078-WINDSHIELD HEATER CONTROL CIRCUIT LOW?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- The conditions that caused this code to set are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.Verification Tests.
2. HEATED WINDSHIELD RELAY
Turn the ignition Off
Install a known good relay in place of the Heated Windshield Relay.
With the scan tool erase DTC's
Start the engine.
Operate the heated windshield switch several times.
With the scan tool, read DTC's.
Does the scan tool display 9078-WINDSHIELD HEATER CONTROL CIRCUIT LOW?
No
- Replace the original Heated Windshield Relay.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Verification Tests
Yes
- Go To 3
3. HEATED WINDSHIELD RELAY CONTROL SHORTED
Disconnect the Heated Windshield Relay.
Disconnect the Body Control Module C9 connector.
Measure the resistance between ground and the Heated Windshield Relay Control circuit at the relay.
Is the resistance below 1000.0 ohms?
Yes
- Repair the Heated Windshield Relay Control circuit for a short to ground.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Verification Tests
No
- Replace the Body Control Module.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.Verification Tests.
