Tire Pressure Monitoring
9050-LOST COMMUNICATION WITH REAR TPM ANTENNA
For a complete wiring diagram Consult Diagrams/Electrical.
- When Monitored:
With the ignition on. Battery voltage greater than 10.4 volts.
- Set Condition:
The TPM Module is unable to with the Tire Pressure Rear Transponder
Always perform the Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding.Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview.
Diagnostic Test
1. ACTIVE DTC
Ignition on, engine not running.
With a scan tool, read DTCs.
Is the DTC active at this time?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Go To 2
2. INTERMITTENT CONDITION
NOTE: Check for any of the follow conditions:
- Poor wire to terminal connection
- Corroded terminals
- Backed out or loose terminals
- Broken wire internal to the insulation
- Dirty (partial) module ground
Were any of the above condition present?
Yes
- Repair as necessary.
- Perform TPM VERIFICATION TEST
No
DTC is not active at this time. Test complete.
3. REAR TRANSPONDER
Using the scan tool, clear the DTC.
Disconnect the Rear Transponder harness connector.
Start and drive the vehicle. Vehicle speed must be above greater than 10 mph (16 km/h) for at least 10 minutes.
With a scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the DTC 9242-TPM Antenna Not Connected set?
Yes
- Replace the Rear Transponder.
- Perform TPM VERIFICATION TEST
No
- Go To 4
4. REAR TRANSPONDER LIN BUS CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE
Ignition off.
Disconnect the TPM Module harness connector.
Turn the ignition on
Measure the voltage on the Rear Transponder LIN Bus circuit in the TPM Module harness connector.
Is voltage present?
Yes
- Repair the short to voltage in the Rear Transponder LIN Bus circuit.
- Perform TPM VERIFICATION TEST
No
- Go To 5
5. REAR TRANSPONDER LIN BUS CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
Turn the ignition off.
Measure the resistance of the Rear Transponder LIN Bus circuit from the Rear Transponder harness connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes
- Repair the open in the Rear Transponder LIN Bus circuit.
- Perform TPM VERIFICATION TEST
No
- Go To 6
6. REAR TRANSPONDER LIN BUS CIRCUIT OPEN
Turn the ignition off.
Connect a jumper wire from the Rear Transponder LIN Bus circuit in the Rear Transponder harness connector to ground.
Using a test light connected to battery voltage, probe the Rear Transponder LIN Bus circuit in the TPM Module harness connector.
NOTE: The test light should be illuminated and bright. Compare the brightness to that of a direct connection to the battery.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
Yes
- Replace and program the TPM Module.
- Perform TPM VERIFICATION TEST
No
- Repair the open in the Rear Transponder LIN Bus circuit.
- Perform TPM VERIFICATION TEST
