9000 - 9999: 9034
9034-HEATED SEATS DISABLED - LOW BATTERY VOLTAGE - SBM
For a complete wiring diagram Consult Diagrams/Electrical.
- When Monitored:
With the ignition on.
- Set Condition:
Switch Bank Module senses less than 11.0 volts on the Fused B(+) circuit for more than 15 seconds.
Diagnostic Test
1. CHECK FOR ANY POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULES DTCS
NOTE: Make sure the Battery is in good condition. Using the Midtronics Battery Tester, test the Battery before continuing.
NOTE: Inspect the vehicle for after market accessories that may exceed the Generator System output.
NOTE: Make sure the generator drive belt is in good operating condition.
NOTE: Inspect the fuses in the IPM. If an open fuse is found, use the wire diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors for damage.
Turn the ignition on.
With the scan tool, read active PCM DTC's.
Does the scan tool display any active PCM DTC's?
Yes
- Refer to appropriate testing.
No
- Go To 2
2. CHECK HEATED SEAT FUSE
Inspect the heated seat fuse.
Is the fuse open?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Go To 4
3. SHORTED HEATED SEAT DRIVER CIRCUIT
Disconnect the Switch Bank Module C1 connector.
NOTE: Check connectors - Clean and repair as necessary.
Measure the Left and Right Heated Seat Driver circuits at the Switch Bank Module C1 connector to chassis ground.
Is the resistance below 1.0 ohms on either circuit?
Yes
- Repair the short to ground in the seat heater element circuit and replace the fuse.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.Verification Tests.
No
- Replace the fuse.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.Verification Tests
4. OPEN FUSED B(+) TO MODULE
Disconnect the Switch Bank Module C1 connector.
Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the Fused B(+) circuit at the C1 connector.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
No
- Repair the Fused B(+) circuit for an open or high resistance.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.Verification Tests.
Yes
- Go To 5
5. CHECK FOR AN OPEN SEAT HEATER ELEMENT CIRCUIT
Check the seat heater element circuit total resistance by measuring the Left and Right Heated Seat Driver circuits to chassis ground.
Is either heated seat circuit open?
Yes
- Check for and repair an open in the Heated Seat Driver wire, heater element pigtail harness, ground circuit for the heating elements or replace the heater element(s) as necessary.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.Verification Tests
No
- Replace the Switch Bank Module.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.Verification Tests
