9011-DRIVER SEAT BELT SWITCH CONNECTOR FAULT

Theory of Operation

When powered, the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) sends a test current to the Driver Seat Belt Switch circuit to verify the integrity of the switch and wiring. Use of the ORC adapter tool to provide a test point as well as a method for opening the shorting bar connections within the ORC harness connector.

- When Monitored:
With the ignition on.

- Set Condition:
This DTC will set if the module detects a connection failure at the Driver Seat Belt Switch or Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) connectors terminals related to the Driver Seat Belt Switch. This code may occur in combination with other active DTC's.





Always perform the Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding. .

Diagnostic Test

1. VERIFY OTHER ACTIVE DTC
NOTE: Ensure the battery is fully charged.

Turn the ignition ON.
With the scan tool, perform a ORC reset.
With the scan tool, read the active ORC DTC.
Look for active open or short DTCs in the ORC
Are there any other active Driver Seat Belt Switch DTCs?

Yes

- Diagnose and repair the DTC's.

No

- Go To 2

2. VERIFY ORC AND SWITCH CONNECTIONS
Turn the ignition OFF.
Verify Driver Seat Belt Switch connector is completely seated to switch.
Verify the Occupant Restraint Controller connector is completely seated to the module.
With the scan tool, read the active ORC DTC.
Does the scan tool display an active: 9011-DRIVER SEAT BELT SWITCH CONNECTOR FAULT?

Yes

- Go To 3

No

- Repair complete.
- Perform *RESTRAINT VERIFICATION TEST. Verification Tests

3. VERIFY SWITCH TERMINALS AND CONNECTORS
WARNING: To avoid serious or fatal injury, turn the ignition off, disconnect the battery and wait two minutes before proceeding.

Disconnect the Driver Seat Belt Switch connector.
Inspect the Driver Seat Belt Switch terminals and Switch connectors terminals for damage or corrosion.
Is the Driver Seat Belt Switch terminals or connector terminals damaged or corroded?

Yes

- Repair or replace the Driver Seat Belt Switch and connector as necessary and.
- Perform *RESTRAINT VERIFICATION TEST. Verification Tests

No

- Go To 4

4. VERIFY ORC AND CONNECTORS TERMINALS
WARNING: To avoid serious or fatal injury, turn the ignition off, disconnect the battery and wait two minutes before proceeding.

Disconnect the Occupant Restraint Controller connectors.
Inspect the ORC and switch connectors for damage or corrosion.
Is the ORC connector terminals damaged or corroded?

Yes

- Repair or replace the ORC connector and terminals as necessary and.
- If the ORC terminals are corroded, replace the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC).
WARNING: If the airbag control module is dropped at any time, it must be replaced. Failure to take the proper precautions could result in accidental airbag deployment and serious or fatal injury.

- Perform *RESTRAINT VERIFICATION TEST. Verification Tests

No

- Replace the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC).
- Perform *RESTRAINT VERIFICATION TEST. Verification Tests
