9009-MIRROR HEATER CIRCUIT LOW - DDM

Theory of Operation
The Driver Door Module will operate the heated mirrors automatically whenever the ambient air temperature is below approximately 55 degrees.
- When Monitored:
Whenever the module is awake.
- Set Condition:
When the DDM senses an excessive current draw on either the Left or Right Mirror Driver circuit, this code will set.
Diagnostic Test
1. TEST FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITION
Turn the ignition on.
With the scan tool, record and erase DTC's.
With the scan tool actuate the Heated Mirrors.
Wait 30 seconds.
With the scan tool, read DTC's.
Does the scan tool display 9009-MIRROR HEATER CIRCUIT LOW?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- The conditions that caused this code to set are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.Verification Tests.
2. LEFT OUTSIDE REARVIEW MIRROR
With the scan tool, record and erase DTC's.
Disconnect the Left Outside Rearview Mirror connector.
With the scan tool actuate the Heated Mirrors.
Open and close the left door.
Wait 30 seconds.
With the scan tool, read DTC's.
Does the scan tool display 9009-MIRROR HEATER CIRCUIT LOW?
No
- Replace the Left Outside Rearview Mirror.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.Verification Tests.
Yes
- Go To 3
3. RIGHT OUTSIDE REARVIEW MIRROR
With the scan tool, record and erase DTC's.
Disconnect the Right Outside Rearview Mirror connector.
With the scan tool actuate the Heated Mirrors.
Open and close the right door.
Wait 30 seconds.
With the scan tool, read DTC's.
Does the scan tool display 9009-MIRROR HEATER CIRCUIT LOW?
No
- Replace the Right Outside Rearview Mirror.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.Verification Tests.
Yes
- Go To 4
4. LEFT MIRROR HEATER DRIVER CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Driver Door Module C3 connector.
Measure the resistance between ground and the Left Mirror Heater Driver circuit in the DDM C3 connector.
Is the resistance below 5000.0 ohms?
Yes
- Repair the Left Mirror Heater Driver circuit for a short to ground.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.Verification Tests.
No
- Go To 5
5. LEFT MIRROR HEATER DRIVER CIRCUIT SHORT TO THE LEFT MIRROR RETURN CIRCUIT
Measure the resistance between the Left Mirror Heater Driver circuit and the Left Mirror Return circuit.
Is the resistance below 5000.0 ohms?
Yes
- Repair the Left Mirror Heater Driver circuit for a short to the Left Mirror Return circuit.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Verification Tests.
No
- Go To 6
6. RIGHT MIRROR HEATER DRIVER CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND
Disconnect the Driver Door Module C1 connector.
Measure the resistance between ground and the Right Mirror Heater Driver circuit in the DDM C1 connector.
Is the resistance below 5000.0 ohms?
Yes
- Repair the Right Mirror Heater Driver circuit for a short to ground.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.Verification Tests.
No
- Replace the Driver Door Module.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Verification Tests.
