935A-REAR WIPER SWITCH CIRCUIT STUCK
For a complete wiring diagram Consult Diagrams/Electrical
Theory of Operation
The Rear Wiper switch input changes when the switch is rotated in a forward position. A stored DTC indicates that the Rear Wiper switch was stuck rotated in a forward position for predetermined value of time, but has since returned to its normal state. An active DTC indicates that the Rear Wiper switch is stuck rotated in a forward position. An active DTC will prevent proper Rear Wiper switch and status indicator function.
- When Monitored:
With the ignition on.
- Set Condition:
If the Rear Wiper switch stays rotated in a forward position for more than a predetermined value of time.
Diagnostic Test
1. VERIFY THAT THE DTC IS STILL ACTIVE
Turn the ignition on.
With the scan tool, erase SCM DTCs.
Rotate the Rear Wiper Switch in a forward position several times.
Turn the ignition off.
Turn the ignition on, wait 5 seconds.
With the scan tool, read SCM DTCs.
Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?
Yes
- Go to 2
No
- The condition that caused this symptom is currently not present. Check for an intermittent condition by inspecting the related wiring harness for chafed, pierced, pinched, and partially broken wires. Also, inspect the related connectors for broken, bent, pushed out, spread, corroded, or contaminated terminals. Repair as necessary.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Verification Tests.
2. INSPECT FOR AN OBJECT OR SUBSTANCE CAUSING THE REAR WIPER SWITCH TO STAY OR STICK ROTATED IN A FORWARD POSITION
Inspect the Rear Wiper Switch for anything that would cause the Rear Wiper switch to stay or stick rotated in a forward position.
Is anything present that would cause the Rear Wiper switch to stay or stick rotated in a forward position?
Yes
- Repair as necessary.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Verification Tests.
No
- Go To 3
3. CHECK FOR NORMAL REAR WIPER SWITCH & STATUS INDICATOR FUNCTION
Turn the ignition on.
Rotate the Rear Wiper Switch in a forward position several times while observing the Rear Wiper Switch status indicator.
Does the Rear Wiper Switch status indicator turn on and off?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Replace the Rear Wiper Switch.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Verification Tests.
4. INSPECT THE REAR WIPER SWITCH FOR DAMAGE
Inspect the Rear Wiper Switch for damage.
Is the Rear Wiper Switch damaged?
Yes
- Replace the Rear Wiper Switch.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Verification Tests.
No
- Test complete.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1. Verification Tests.
