OPERATION

The clock gives an indication to the vehicle operator of the current time. The electronic digital clock is controlled by the instrument cluster microprocessor based upon cluster programming and a high frequency oscillator crystal on the cluster electronic circuit board. The clock is completely controlled by the instrument cluster logic circuit, and that logic will only allow this indication to be viewed when the cluster multi-function indicator display is active. However, the clock continues to be functional, regardless of the ignition switch position or the status of the multi-function display.

On vehicles equipped with the optional COckpit Management ANd Data (COMAND) system, the instrument cluster clock automatically acquires the time and date settings from the radio or navigation radio. See the owner's information packet in the vehicle glove box for more information on the features, use, operation and setting procedures for the clock.

For proper diagnosis of the ElectroMechanical Instrument Cluster (EMIC) (also known as the Cab Compartment Node/CCN or KOMBI) or the electronic controls and communication related to clock operation, a diagnostic scan tool is required. Refer to the appropriate diagnostic information.
