Manual Temperature Control (MTC)

MANUAL TEMPERATURE CONTROL (MTC)

WARNING: Disable the airbag system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to take the proper precautions may result in accidental airbag deployment and possible serious or fatal injury.

NOTE: ATC A/C-heater control shown. MTC control similar.

1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the center bezel from the instrument panel.
3. Remove the four screws (1) that secure the A/C-heater control (2) to the instrument panel (3).

4. Carefully pull the A/C-heater control (1) straight out from the instrument panel.
5. Disengage the cable retaining tab (2) and disconnect the blend door control cable (3) from the rear of the A/C heater control.
6. Using a pick or other small bladed tool, disengage the wire harness connector lock (4).
7. Disconnect the wire harness connectors (5) from the back of the A/C-heater control and remove the control from the vehicle.
