4296- BATTERY SUPPLY VOLTAGE - ERRATIC

- When Monitored:

Vehicle speeds above 6 km/h (3.4 mph).

- Set Condition:

Voltage is less than 8.2 volts for longer than 20 mSec or greater than 16.8 volts for longer than 500 ms at vehicle speeds above 6 km/h (3.4 mph).








Diagnostic Test

NOTE: This DTC must be active for the results of this test to be valid.

Turn the ignition on.

With the scan tool, read and record DTCs from the BCM.

With the scan tool, read and record Freeze Frame information.

With the scan tool, erase DTCs.

Start the engine.

With the scan tool, read and record DTCs.

With the scan tool read DTCs from the BCM.

Are any charging system codes present?

Yes

- Repair the charging system DTC in the BCM.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST.

No

- Go To 2

2. CHARGING SYSTEM FAILURE

Start the engine.

Connect voltmeter to vehicle battery.

Is the vehicle battery voltage less than 8.2 volts or greater than 16.8 volts?

Yes

- Repair the charging system.
- Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Verification Tests

No

- Go To 3



3. CHARGING POWER SUPPLY VOLTAGE



With a scan tool read Power Supply and Fused Ignition Voltage.

Is Power Supply and Fused Ignition Voltage less than 8.2 volts or greater than 16.8 volts?

Yes

-
Replace the Anti-Lock Brakes Module.
- Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Verification Tests

No

- Refer to the ABS INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure.
- Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST. Verification Tests
