ISSUE
Some 2013 Explorer vehicles built on or before 11/2/2012, 2013 Taurus and MKS vehicles built on or before 12/21/2012, may exhibit hazard lights staying on/will not turn on, brake warning indicator illuminated, door illumination inoperative, multiple door ajar lights on with doors closed, door locks inoperative from door switch, manual liftgate may open un-commanded with vehicle in park, delayed accessory may not turn off when you exit the vehicle, door keyless entry illumination on/won't turn on, and power liftgate/trunk trim switch inoperative.
ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Replace Body Control Module (BCM). Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 419-10.
2. Remove the air cleaner box. Refer to WSM Section 303-12.
3. Disconnect C127 from the hood ajar switch. Refer to Wiring Manual, Section 117-1.
4. Remove convolute wire covering to expose BK/GY wire GD123.
5. Cut and splice BK 16 AWG wire 80 cm (32") long supplied in service kit. Refer to splicing method in the Wiring Manual, Section 5-1.
6. Disconnect G103 (Explorer), G101 (Taurus/MKS).
7. Install eyelet from overlay onto ground and install bolt. Torque to 12 N.m (9 lb-ft).
8. Route overlay wire onto existing wire bundle and tape securely.
9. Attach C127 to hood ajar switch.
10. Install the air cleaner box. Refer to WSM, Section 303-12.
